I was just over at Treehugger.com and was fascinated by this research. This revealing study was completed back in 1981 by Donald Appleyard (1928-1982), who was a Professor of Urban Design at the University of California, Berkeley. It clearly shows that neighborhoods that had less traffic were more social – its residents had more friends! Check out the video!
With evidence like this and the promise for more fun, more friends and a greener earth, why wouldn’t you want to downsize and live in a pedestrian friendly community? I mean, really, cars are so over rated.
Have a fabulous Tuesday!
