The thrust of real estate in Portland Oregon is all about being close to services, parks and transportation, in short a walkable neighborhood with a high score. Walk Score shows any address in over 3,0000 cities in US, Canada and Australia showing Transit, Bike and Walkable scores.
Public transit, better commutes and proximity to the people and places you love are the key to a happier, healthier and more sustainable lifestyle! Aging in place in a walkable area is desirable.
AARP kicks off NeighborWalks in Portland
I am on a volunteer committee that designed seven walks throughout our Portland neighborhoods with a big party celebration downtown on the Eastbank Esplanade waterfront on October 24. #wearewalkinghere. Go here for the schedule.
This is a collaborative community walking program put on by AARP Oregon, City of Portland Bureau of Transportation and Oregon Walks.
Our kickoff walk was in Historic Irvington Neighborhood with over 90 people. The walk was 1.7 miles and we all had a chance to tour the Portland The White House which is a Bed and Breakfast. The Greek Revival mansion was built in 1911 for lumber baron Robert Lytle. It is also available for special events, I enjoyed the Tiffany stain glass windows.
