Wet wet wet December and Portland is drowning in moisture, non stop blowing sideways in the face mist. I love the rain since it means that it is snowing at higher elevations on Mt Hood and my freshly waxed skis are itchy to hit the slopes, but at 60F degrees my hopes are dashed.
No worries I can dream about my other sport, riding my bike. I am excited about Portland’s Bike Share Program. There is a meeting at OHSU on Friday 12/11/15 at 8am that will be sharing the exciting news.
When I get off the new Max Orange line at OHSU, I was immediately pulled in by the shiny blue and white bikes, with baskets, lights and anti theft locks- and like a little kid – I want one Santa!
Encouraging their employees at OHSU there are 2 bike stations and 13 bikes for employees to use for free! Please hire me. But the larger picture is to have 600 bikes and 60 stations around the city.
Kiel Johnson founded Go By Bike and won the Alice Toeclips award for bicycle advocacy, organizing the concept of bike trains to increase kids biking to school. Local kid himself graduating from Lewis and Clark College.
If you have not been across the most amazing Tilikum Crossing Bridge in PDX – walk ride or bus across – I will meet you at Starbucks or Elephants Deli- since I just can not get enough of this architectural beauty. Portland we are so lucky!
