Hi all! Happy New Year!

I’m getting back into the swing of things finally and today, I have a fabulous garage make-over to share with you - all the way from Bordeaux! (You all know how I have a thing for garage projects!)

This tiny 441 sq. ft. space was designed by the ingenious team at FABRE/deMARIEN.

Check this out before shot…dull, dingy and dark.

Garden House on the Oregon Coast

By , December 15, 2010 7:23 pm

You know I love the coast! It’s the place I go to recharge and regroup in the quiet and peace of my beach cottage.

When I discovered this tiny, garden home on the Oregon coast, designed by architect, Obie Bowman, I knew I had to share it with you.

This little gem of a home measured 325 sq. ft., is completely off the grid and built using recycled and reclaimed materials – gotta love that! With many environmental systems in place, this small residence is low maintenance and superbly green.

Let’s go on a tour shall we?Garden House 2 Garden House on the Oregon CoastGarden House 3 Garden House on the Oregon CoastGarden House 4 Garden House on the Oregon CoastGarden House 5 Garden House on the Oregon CoastGarden House 6 Garden House on the Oregon CoastGarden House 7 Garden House on the Oregon CoastIsn’t it lovely?

Right now, it serves its owner as a guest house and writing studio – I think I could definitely pen a couple of worthy books sitting in this light filled home on the ocean!

Update: Jay Shafer from Tumbleweed Homes

By , December 3, 2010 10:39 am

A couple of months ago I did a post about Jay Shafer from Tumbleweed Homes – a man on a mission to build and live in tiny homes.

Got a little update for you! He, his wife and their baby boy have moved into a larger home!

By larger, I mean a 500 sq. ft home…which when compared to his expansive 89 sq. ft bachelor pad (seen below)…well…that is a step up!

Although, I haven’t found images of his new home. I would imagine he may have used his own Whidbey design…charming isn’t it?

Old Garage turned Mini Dream Home!

By , November 12, 2010 4:45 pm

Hello there! It’s been a busy week with a trip to Seattle for the Picasso exhibition and a drive out to the coast but I knew I had to share this amazing remodel with you before the week came to a close.

Everyone loves good makeovers and the ones involving tiny spaces, creative design and ingenious solutions are my all time favorites! Check out how Seattle artist, designer and welder, Michelle de la Vega, created this beautiful little 250 sq. ft. haven…

The before…

The kitchen is well organized and accessible with open storage solutions. Love those vintage crates that most likely serve as drawers!

You know I am a big fan of great bathroom design and this one delivers. Its simplicity is calming, earthy and zen like and I love how surprising a tub is in this tiny home!

Oh and just so you know…Michelle only spent $32,000 on the renovation!

How many of us have garages that only house our junk!? What could you do with a space like this? That home office you’ve always wanted, a studio, a guest house? So many possibilities…

Have a lovely weekend!
