A couple of nights ago, I attended a fantastic lecture at Rejuvenation – one of Portland’s most loved vintage lighting and home wares store. This lecture series is sponsored by a wonderful organization called P:ear – they creatively mentor and inspire homeless youth! Check them out here.
A nice bonus to the evening: famed, local architect, Robert Rummer was in attendance and celebrating his 85th birthday too! His wonderful designs were prominent in the 1960′s and still are en vogue today. His homes are modern, one level and abundant with natural light thanks to his signature atrium at the heart of the space. Rummer homes are seen all over Portland…

And a peek inside…

I really love his clean, contemporary lines and open floor plans! So perfect for us hip Portlanders!
Okay, so I am off to Seattle via train for a fabulous weekend in the city! Stay tuned…I’m sure to bring back some stories.
Have a great Memorial Day weekend!

P.S. If you are going to be in town make sure you don’t miss Rejuvenation’s huge Memorial weekend sale!!

Green building, as you know is something I love. Recycled, re-purposed, re-used, I can’t get enough! So, when I found this fantastic California based, green, pre-fab home company – Logical Homes, I had to share some of their plans with you. Sleek and modern, they pride themselves on filling their structures with light, clean lines and plenty of feel good, earth friendly building materials.
With a huge range of plans, there is a home suitable for everyone. These structures also make great secondary buildings such as an office, studio or guest house!
This first plan (The Kara) is a sweet 320 square feet…with a lovely expanse of outdoor living (an additional 270 sq. ft.)…

This next one (The Aegean) provides a little more wiggle room coming in at 640 sq. ft. and I just love that strong cantilevered roof!

And the big sister to the Kara is the Kara 1512, providing 1512 sq. ft of living space on two levels. Check out the translucent walls of the staircase – so cool!
Pre-fab fabulous, right? To check out all their plans, visit their website here.
Could you live in one of these? I think I could!
